Weekly Wrap: The Sweet Start of Summer

Beach time + Memorial Weekend!

Beach time!

Hi Raleigh Lover!

Hello summer! Memorial Day weekend is here, and with it comes the unofficial start to our favorite season of the year — full of sunshine, slower days, and spontaneous adventures.

We kicked things off early with our first ocean swim of 2025 in Myrtle Beach this week — and let us tell you, it was exactly what our souls needed. We worked with a cozy and affordable beachfront hotel (Grande Shores Resort) tucked away from the bustling Myrtle Beach crowds and embraced the joy of slow travel. Think: sunrise strolls, lazy afternoons on the sand, and quiet moments with a good book (currently loving Surrender by Bono).

And here's a little secret we discovered: Myrtle Beach has real happy hours — $5 wines and food prices that had us saying, “Wow… Raleigh has gotten pricey!”

It reminded us just how magical beach time can be — and how important it is to carve out space for it.

If you’re dreaming of salt in your hair and sand between your toes, we’ve got a few beach getaway ideas waiting for you on the blog. Whether it's a quick weekend escape or a longer summer retreat, we hope you find your place in the sun this season.

See you out in the waves,
☀️ Caroline + Craig

P.S. Our eldest also headed to Carolina Beach this week - on her Senior Skip Day. Something new I learned this year about USA culture! What a fun way to enjoy your last year. You can tell this travel-is-everything Momma had no problem with it!

⭐DID YOU HEAR?

  • Raleigh dropped from 6th (2024) to 155th Best Place to Live in ithe USA by U.S. News & World Report. However they completely changed the study so probably not technically a fall.

  • However, the new study was favorable to Cary which ranked #5 and Apex #7.

  • The Canes are kinda struggling against the Panthers. I’m not feeling so good about this. And you?

  • New Openings: Lucky Tree in Moore Square and Napa Bistro + Wine Bar in North Raleigh.

  • La Farm Bakery will open a location on N.C. State's campus in the former Port City Java space

  • Queen City Homestore is giving away $50K in prizes until June 3! Enter here for the chance to win weekly prizes.
