Little Native escape

Hi {{ first name | Raleigh Lover}}!

Alright friends… stock up the pantry, run all your errands, walk barefoot on the ground for a minute, hug a tree, grab a coffee, and get ready to hunker down yet again. Ugh. I am so ready for spring.

We’ve got a predicted 6 inches of snow headed our way this weekend, which I think might be the most I’ve ever experienced in Raleigh. The small mercy? It’s supposed to be fluffy snow, not ice. I hope you can get outside for a bit and build a snowman or sled down a hill (carefully, please).

We’re still dealing with ice creating a literal moat around our front door, but that didn’t stop us from escaping to sanity a couple of times this week. Everywhere we went was busy — unusual for January — but I’m guessing everyone had the same cabin-fever-release needs.

Suffering the most through all of this is our cat Peach, who desperately misses her daily walks and is not coping well with this weather situation.

Most events have been canceled for the weekend (though a few are still holding on — check ahead and tread carefully). This feels like a good time to declutter, squeeze in a home workout, make a hearty pot of chili, curl up with a book, and let Netflix do the heavy lifting.

I just finished reading The Dry by Jane Harper — an Australian murder mystery — and felt completely at home from the very first sentence. Highly recommend. You’ll also pick up a few Aussie slang words along the way. Message me if you need translation 😉

For streaming, I’ve recently loved Little Disasters, People We Meet on Vacation, Run Away, and The Beast in Me. I’m currently watching Blackshore.

And for home workouts, my go-tos are Kayleigh Strength and Move with Nicole.

Stay warm, stay cozy, and fingers crossed this is winter’s final dramatic act 🤞❄️
