Slow down

Hi {{ first name | Raleigh Lover}}!

I had a small but unexpectedly powerful experience this week — one that reminded me why human connection matters so much, especially right now.

I spent some time at Moxie Hair Salon, and while I walked out loving my hair, what stayed with me was something deeper. The joy I felt came from the people. From a team whose mission is to truly elevate others through building confidence, leading with kindness, and making every person feel seen and celebrated.

In a world that can feel heavy, divided, and rushed, spaces like this matter. They remind us that local businesses aren’t just about services or transactions, they’re about community, care, and connection.

It sparked something in me this week: a renewed intention to lead with warmth and generosity — with my family, with the people we meet around Raleigh, with the business owners we work with, and with you, our readers who stop us to say hello or join us here each week.

Because when someone feels lifted, they carry that energy forward. And that ripple — that quiet butterfly effect — is how communities grow stronger.

Here’s to choosing joy, supporting the places that lead with heart, and being a little more of the light for each other. We intend to find more of them to share with you! If you’re looking for an extraordinary salon, Moxie has style and heart!

P.S.As we head into the long weekend, I hope you’re able to slow down and enjoy the Monday holiday. It’s also a meaningful time to pause and reflect on the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and the ongoing work of inclusion, justice, and fairness for all.

May we continue to do our part in big and small ways, leading with empathy, compassion, and courage and choosing actions that help create a more just and connected community for everyone.

💖 FAVORITE FINDS

  • Glo2 Facial - This is a new advanced facial from Woodhouse Spa (partner) was incredible -the best facial I’ve had and my skin was glowing after!! Woodhouse is also doing an amazing January treat - write a letter to your future self and they’ll send it to you in 6 months 🥰🥰

  • Brodeto: With my new makeover, we headed to Brodeto for dinner - our first time. Everything matched the hype, but I’m still thinking about that sardine toast. The in-house baked gluten free bread was delicious.

  • Tifa Chocolate & Gelato - the loft space is perfect for meetings, doing work, reading a book, or playing board games. Their coffee is also pretty good! It’s a great alternative to Jubala in North Hills which is often crowded and noisy.
