I flew in from California at 1am this morning, had a hair color done at the salon this morning, and am now trying to squish in some work (I have a lot to do!) before heading downtown (Brass Tap) to see the USA vs Australia World Cup soccer match!
So, it will be a short email today as I am overwhelmed with all the things and I can’t quite convince time to slip me a few extra.
The talk of the town this weekend is the Stanley Cup parade. We have a full guide with all you need to know. Since I was out of town when they won it, I am excited to attend this one.
Happy Father’s Day weekend to all our dads and fatherly figures. We hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating and sending our hugs and loves to all who feel a loss on this day.
It’s also Juneteenth today where we celebrate freedom for Black Americans. June 19, 1865, was when enslaved people finally received word that they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
North Carolina has deep roots in this history, and Raleigh has a thriving Black community that has shaped everything this city is, from its music to its food to its neighborhoods to its future.
We're grateful to be part of a city that celebrates this day, not just acknowledges it.
