Happy Hump Day {{first_name}}
There’s something about this time of year — when winter finally loosens its grip — that makes me want to get outside, move my body, and do something different.
And yet… it’s so easy to stay in the same routine. Same to-do list. Same “I’ll do something fun soon.”
So, this is your nudge. (And mine.)
A reminder to make space for what actually matters — the fun, the connection, the things that make you feel more like yourself again.
That’s why this event we’re doing in April feels like such good timing.
We’ve partnered with the Wake Tech Foundation to share Reach, Rally & Run — and yes, it’s a race… but not in the intimidating way you might be imagining.
You can walk it, jog it, or take it slow and chat the whole way.
It’s inclusive and genuinely for everyone, with a Fun Mile, 5K, and 10K — you choose your pace. And if you are feeling competitive, there’s over $4K in prizes, plus a finisher’s medal and gift if you register before April 5.
Wake Tech brings a fun, almost tailgate-like energy to the day — sponsor activations, vendor stations, physical therapists for stretch and recovery, a live DJ, and Wake Tech Brewing for your post-race cheers in the Runner’s Village.
It’s one of those events where the energy comes from people simply showing up — friends, families, coworkers, students — all in it together.
We’ve signed up for the 5K and created a This Is Raleigh team, and honestly, we’re not doing it to race.
We’re doing it to get outside, move our bodies, meet some of you, and be part of something that actually matters.
And that part feels especially important right now.
It’s no secret the world is a little off right now… perhaps unhinged is a good word for it (I hope you’re doing okay. I’m maybe not) But doing good — showing up, being kind, supporting others — that’s how we help steady things again.
This event supports Wake Tech students through emergency aid, helping people stay in school when life throws something unexpected their way.
It’s a simple thing — showing up for a walk or run — but it can make a real difference. And the world needs more supported, educated, future leaders.
So, I thought… why not turn this into a little community moment?
If you want to join our team, select THIS IS RALEIGH team when you come to that section on the form.
No pressure. No expectations. Walk it, run it, laugh through it.
If you’re craving something a little different, a reason to get out of the house and enjoy spring (hopefully with less pollen by then!), and a way to feel more connected, this might be exactly what you need.
And if joining the team isn’t your thing, that’s totally fine too. Show up your way, at your pace. We’d still love to say hi in the Runner’s Village after 😊
