Raleigh is leading so strong this spring, and honestly, the lineup just keeps delivering.
We had another full and fun weekend, starting with a bike ride down to Bond Lake for the annual Spring Daze Festival. If you missed it, don't worry — there's a second chance in August with its sister event, Lazy Daze, in Downtown Cary.
The weather was perfect. We wandered under the canopy, discovered new local artists, listened to live music, ate BBQ from Corner Boys BBQ, and randomly got into a conversation with a guy on our lunch break who turned out to live around the corner from us. I love that about this city. Big enough to have it all, small enough to keep bumping into your neighbors.
We also met so many of you there. Thank you for coming up and saying hi. It really does mean a lot.
From Spring Daze, we headed over to the brand new Y'all Means Y'all Brewfest at Raleigh Brewing. It was bigger than anyone anticipated — every brewery ran out of beer. Honestly, a quality problem to have.
Then came the unexpected highlight of the weekend. My neighbor and friend Emilie organized a group outing to the Temple Theatre in Sanford, and I am so glad she did. This place is housed in a 100-year-old historic building, less than an hour from Raleigh, and it has an incredible theater program. We saw Bright Star, the musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, set in the Blue Ridge Mountains with gorgeous bluegrass-style music. The story was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. Yes, I cried. The cast was outstanding, especially the lead.
Add this theater to your list. They'll also be featuring a special range of shows celebrating America 250, so there's even more reason to make the trip.

What we found and loved this weekend
Karma is a Cat art piece by Das Letterhaus discovered at the brewery festival. We have two cats; I always tell my daughters “Think about the karma attached to that” and we love Taylor Swift! Vibrant and fun local artist!
Fortnight Brewery’s IPA, which is gluten, reduced and bought me much happiness at Spring Daze festival. A beer in the sun by the lake - a rare enjoyment for me!
Akera, our new dental assistant at Gladwell Orthodontics. She brought much light and joy at Savannah’s checkup on Friday. We giggled a lot and walked out both saying - she was awesome. And so is Dr. Frank Rudey who always pops in for an assessment. Full of kindness and good conversation.
Local musician, Cody Daniel was a standout at the Spring Daze Festival. He was a late minute stand in and really bought the talent. I enjoyed taking a break under the shade of the trees listening to him. Next to him was …

Say Less the Band who played at the beerfest - they brought it home with a great line up of rock!
